Sleep Mistakes We All Make And How To Correct Them

Whether you want to admit it or not, we all make at least some sleep mistakes. However, unfortunately they often have a negative impact on our entire lives, so if you can you should do something about it. Here are the common sleep mistakes as well as some tips that will help you stop making such mistakes in the future.

5 Common Sleep Mistakes We All Make

You Exercise Before Going To Bed

Exercising is good, it gets your heart pumping, blood flowing, muscles activating, your entire body gets completely alert. That is why, it is probably better to exercise when you want to wake yourself up and get yourself more alert. On the other hand, exercising before bedtime increases the temperatures and just stimulates your mind and body too much for you to be able to relax and go to bed. If you still have the need to exercise before bedtime, try doing yoga, as it will help you relax and go to bed.

Technology In Bedroom

There is no place for technology in bedroom and that is final! We all use our smartphones before going to bed, but did you know that the blue light which the smartphone is emitting is actually reducing the production of a natural hormone melatonin your body is producing so that you could sleep properly?

Caffeine Consumption

Consuming too much caffeine will definitely disturb your sleep pattern and sometimes you can get caffeine even from foods and drinks which are not coffee! This is why, you should munch on foods that contain tryptophan such as, yoghurt, bananas, milk, eggs. These foods contain amino acids that will make it easier for your body to produce serotonin, the hormone of relaxation and happiness.

Should You Catch Up On Your Sleep

Depriving yourself of sleep only to make up for the lost hours over the weekends, is a horrible practice. It will definitely catch up with you, but if you really want to change this horrible and unhealthy habit, remember that people need at least 2 or 3 nights of uninterrupted sleep in order to overcome sleep deprivation.

Alcohol Before Bedtime

Alcohol is a depressant, which means it slows down your bodily functions and relaxes you. Many people drink a glass of wine before going to bed because they feel it gives them the sufficient amount of relaxation. Instead, try drinking a cup of a warm herbal tea that will soothe you and prepare you for sleep.
